It’s very simple mechanical construction, it’s a square bot with two drive motors. On the front bumper is a button sensor to figure out when we touch the wall. Just above it is a distance sensor so once we get the “bumper = stop” we can use the distance sensor to roll our speed down as we get closer and closer to the wall.

There are two multicolor LED touch sensors mounted on the top. We can use these to show status, stop a runaway robot, and other projects. In the center of the base is the compass sensor, we can use it to control direction. Just below it facing down is a line sensor so we can do line following programs.

Lastly there is a color sensor with a little bracket in front to hold colored rings. We use this to demo color sensing (the first example is to turn one of the multicolor LED’s the same color as the colored ring.

You can see this robot in action at any of the programming seminars we do.

As we progress across the year we invite roboteers to be part of our programming team, the Technomages. We try to get a Technomage in each organization or school to be the go to point for programming.
